Does anyone have any experience with this lake. Would it be worth driving 80 (one way) miles to take kids bass fishing.

Big Round is an excellent place to take kids fishing. It has alot of HUGE bluegills and a ton of bass! The bass are all about the same size with a few bigger ones mixed in! I usually go up for the pan fish but we always end up catching 20 bass while doing it. We also manage to catch a walleye or two. Big Round is a very clear lake but the boat landing can be and is a pain! The water is down which doesn’t make the landing any better. But once you get out it is worth it.

Depending on the age of your kids. Go into the south bay early or a cloudy day a small white willow leaf spinnerbait. A bright day or later a drop-shot senko drug outside of the weeds is the ticket. The weededge barely goes deeper than 7 feet. If they can handle a flippin stick find the thickest weeds and drop a tube in the pockets. Lots of 13″ fish a few larger. Secret- good weedbed walleyes in the thickest stuff.
