So my wife is “allowing” me to go up north in July, but I need help as I’ve never been up there. I’m thinking maybe..Eagle River area or Turtle-F Flow…any input from guys who have fished these waters?? I’d like to target smallies & ‘eyes. It would help my situation out if there was something for my wife to do besides fish for a few hours in the day…thanks.

We have a great summer bite for walleyes and smallmouth on Lake Wissota….check out some of our reports from last summer in the Wissota forum. Drop me a line if you’d like some more info.

Lake Wissota is located about 20 minutes from Eau Claire (pop 60K) and about 90 minutes from the Twin Cities, so there’s no shortage of things for the Mrs to do while you’re in the boat.

And don’t forget about touring the Leinies brewery!!!

I’d second Jason’s recommendation for Wissota – great lake for recreational boating as well as a top-notch fishing destination… check out the State Park if you’re interested in camping.

I fished Turtle Flowage and the Chippewa Flowage a few times and it is a blast! Tons of action eyes, pike, snaugers, smallies and even skis.

If your like me and I know I am thats where I would head. So many places to fish. And your not stuck on one lake.

I’ve never been to Wissota…I’m looking for the stereotypical “northwoods” experience…does Wissota offer that? I sometimes fish Petenwell & Castle Rock, and that is not what I’m looking for…thanks again for the responses.
