Smallies still on a tear!

The bass bite continues to be red hot in the Northwoods. I went on an afternoon outing with Rich Henrion from Norway, Mi. yesterday. In spite of the weekend pressure we started out by probing the rocky shoreline breaks with tube jigs and the action was fast and furious.
We noticed with the water temps 70-72 degrees the bass were really fighting hard. As the shadows lenghtened I switched to a jerkbait( a Superfluke) and at one period hooked Smallies on 9 consecutive casts. The mosquitoes drove us off the lake at dark after one of those beautiful, memorable, magic nights in the North country.

    Tom:

Targeted walleyes on Tom tonite and caught some decent smallies. Also had a friend tell me that one of his buds made it over to Kentuck and did pretty well on the ‘skies.

I think as the temps are getting prime those Skies will get more aggressive. I still hope to get over your way this season for fishing and a fine dinner at your classy establishment. Lets keep in touch.

    Tom:

I would be game for that!!! Do you know anything about Indian Lake. I have a lake map and some info for leiny, but not as much as I would like otherwise.

As a matter of fact, I am going to try to spend as much time on the water over the next two days as we have a good moon phase and some approaching weather. Water temps in this area have gone down about two degrees since last Saturday. This has been the best weather in awhile, they got to start snapping!!!

A lake map cool. Yep just a few more days and I’ll be up that way hoping to catch something. I will be up that way on Thursday and will hit the local bait stores and ask some questions of them. Is your map a hot spots map or ? Talk to ya later. Steve

Once again do you have a place I can fax or should I send by mail? The lake is supposed to have some pretty good smallie and walleye fishing. I just really do not know anyone who has fished it personally. My map is from the Sportsman’s Connection, I think. It seems to put out good maps of the lakes I know.

The only “X” you’ll get is the one to the best pizza joint in the Northwoods and like it too!!! LOL!!! Maybe there will be a chance to fish together, but I’m betting that it will be difficult for me to get that chance.
