Which Shell Lake. . .in Becker County, MN or in western, WI? If you are looking for the MN version I can tell you it is full of large Walleyes, huge slab crappies, and countless snake Northern Pike. The lake has huge wild rice beds in it and the rice-worms make good forage for the Walleyes and Crappies. It was once famous for large Pike but over-harvest has taken it’s toll on the average size.

Very good smallmouth fishing seem like a bobber on crib bite for walleyes. nothing 2 big. caght some real nice walleyes at night trolling for muskies. boards might be a killer. eastside and southside of lake seemed to be the best. DK

Shoulda been more specific. I meant the WI one near Trego. Afterall, WI opener is a week BEFORE the MN opener.

I can tell you there was a fair amount of ice on it as of last Sunday. Looked thin so it should be gone soon.
