Hey everyone… thinking of skipping out on Rainy River run this year and looking for information on fishing the rivers in Wisconsin….Mainly the Fox river cause I have a place to stay near by!! I know the catch good numbers of fish with occasional piggie throw in as well!!! Does anyone any information on the bite right now or a another source to find information.

I really would like to fish this new water!! Thanks!

Have some friends that were up there a week and a half ago and did very well. They are regulars to the Fox River. No really big fish just ones bewtween 20 – 28 inch mark.

Talked to a friend of mine and he seemed to think that it would soon be over as they were figuring that the rough fish were close to getting into the mix. Apparently once the rough fish get into the mix the walleye run nearly done. That would leave a short trip to the Menomonee on the border to the north. If you fish it with your boat, just make sure at the mouth you are fishing WI waters as fishing to the north is closed until the middle of May and their regular opener.

    Cal,

The bite is far from over, just starting actually and now that the weather has cooled things off the spring run will last into the 3rd week of April. Last week 100 fish per person per day was possible with 3-4 legals (28″+) coming to the boat. Typically it is a night bite but last week we actually did better during the day. Generally you need to get out early to start staging for the “spots” near the refuge. It is true once the roughies start showing the spawn will be towards the end but the males will still be there polluting your boat… Good luck
