You cant go wrong with either one I am partial to the Twins I get to guide on them a few times every year and they produce well. The Musky fishing has been great the last 2 years with many fish over the 50″ mark including my 54″ As far as the walleye fishing the Twins would be your best choice. I have not had the best of luck with them on the desert.
Good luck
If you need some info get in touch.

While I prefer North twin also for Musky fishing…I don’t know that “down town Phelps” would get any votes for a “scenic vacation spot” by any stretch for Mom and the kids…North Twin edges a residential area. There is a Casino and more family options near the Desert. Depends on your focus.
April 4, 2007 at 5:13 am #556691I guess I would agree on both Riverhunter’s and Tom’s assessments. By the way Tom hello!!! Here is my two cents.
LVD is a shallower lake that features all species of fish and probably a shallower panfish bite if the kids fish. If the kids ski, I would consider the weedy environment to LVD a detriment, although I am sure there are places to have decent skiing.
North Twin is a deep clear lake that has a good weed line structure and deep water humps. South Twin to the west and be careful in the channel, has a pretty good panfish population. If my kids were skiing, etc. I would probably pick N. Twin.
Either lake is close enough for the activities that Tom mentioned and Eagle River is not that far away either.
There is even a couple of decent trout streams in the area. Good luck, you will love either.

I knew I should have been a travel agent!!! Could have traveled for free, etc. I got my degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and they now call it Hospitality and Tourism. After I got back to town, they wanted me to be the Cahmber director, but too much politics!!!
