The tournaments that we have had on Mudhen over the years have been in the pre-swan time periods.
On all these tourneys we caught the fish on the deeper weedlines on the NW corner and the NE/E side of the lake. The NE/E weedline has a nice break that has some great cabbage and coontail. As you continue south on this you weedline will com close to shore and then jet out again to the main lake. Key in on these bends as they tens to hold the majority of the fish that we caught. We caught the fish on jigs, traps and spinnerbaits here. In the NW courner there where some dense patches of weeds that held a fair number of larger fish. The North side of the lake is a big flat that you will be able to fan cast cranks and spinnerbaits to. If I remember correctly we caught a lot of numbers here but nothing to brag about in size.
.As the day warmed we caught more fish in the reeds and back bay just east of the launch. Even though I didn’t see it, this appears to be a main spawning bed. Here we caught more fish on cranks and finesse worms/tubes.
Hope this helps some, there are some real big fish in this lake.
Let me know how you do
