If I remember correctly, Lake Arbutus east of Black River Falls may have channel catfish. I know we have caught them in the outflow from the lake.

Finding flatheads in a lake may be possible, but as I can’t recollect any off the top of my head. It would seem that the best water to fish flats would be the MIssissippi R.

Another comes to mind is Lake Koshkonong southwest of Fort Atkinson. This lake is an impoundment of the Rock River and may have flats. I am sure it has channels.

I’m not sure if they are flatheads but Lake Wissota has some real large ones in it. I don’t know a lot about catfish but I’ve seen them over 20 pounds there and they were all released. We used to catch a lot out of the Eau Galle Lake. Just a small lake but there were and probably still are large cats there. I hate to say it but I kept way too many of them big uns years ago to give to friends and have smoked. The best bait was creek chubs. I would think any lake that has a river inlet and outlet is a good bet though. I may have to give them cats a try on Menomin as I know their in the Red Cedar river. Nothing quite like fishing in 2 or three feet of water with a big bobber and seeing the wake of a large catfish heading towards your bobber. I’ll have to dig out my catfish whistle and go again.
