Ok, I have had enough winter. Time to start thinking spring. What is your favorite destination for the WI. opener?

I’ll be on the Croix for the MN opener and may head over to Wissota for the WI opener. Haven’t gotten much ice-fishing in yet this winter but already can’t wait for open water!

This year, I’ll be fishing on the final day of the FLW tour (Pool 4) for the Wisconsin opener.

If I’m not there, I’ll be on Wissota….great time of year for a mixed bag of eyes and specks.

I’ll be on the Croix for the Croix opener, which I hear again is screwed up between the two states. WI opener I haven’t landed on a favorite, maybe Wissota, Wapogasset, or Cedar.

Generally I stay away from the opener, the Monday after though I’ll likely be on Wissota or Altoona or the Chippewa River/Dells Pond.

Looks like Wissota may be a popular spot… anybody up for a bit of GTG on opener? Maybe meet for breakfast, do a BBQ/Shorelunch, compare notes, ???

Croix for the river opener, Turtle Flambeau for inland. We usually have a pre-inland opener get together at “Schmigs” in Lakeland. I think it’s called “on the border” now.

Trout fishing down on my “secret spots”! Last two years have been 50 fish days coupled with some 16 inch brookies-and last year a tiger trout!

That’s some good fishing there Doc. Be careful you don’t get followed out of town .

Should clarify that is 50 fish for 2 guys. The fish really stack up with the low water conditions in the area streams. We mainly target the lower stretches of any stream, it is amazing when you pull 10 fish out of a single hole. The bad news: this is something that could easily be exploited if the wrong people were to discover some of these spots.
