Where are you all going for the opener??? I am heading to Horseshoe, just north of Turtle Lake. Red Rock sounds like he’s hitting Balsam (sorry couldn’t help you with your ??).

Going to Balsam with RedRock, hopefully we’ll find some out there. Anyone have any suggestions that would be helpful?

Will fish the upper lakes on the Winnebago system. The fishing should be pretty good with the spawning complete.
Good luck to all, wherever you wet a line.

Going to hit the Island Lake area lakes in Rusk Co. and most likely the annual trip to Long in Chip. Co. also. I’ll probably favor Fireside, Sand, Potato, and Long. Less if the bite is good on whichever I try first.

Plan is to start on Menomin, then put in a little time on Tainter as well this weekend.

Hey Coot I may just see ya out there on Menomin. What time you hitting the water? I’ll not be going too early but will be in my Alumacraft Trophy 170 with a 90 Merc. Steve

I’ll probably be on Long one day and maybe Wissota or Red Cedar another… In any case I’ll be catching some big lake smallmouths instead of having to drive 60+ miles every weekend to catch those scrawny little Mississippi river bass (see pic from last sunday)
Kid if you’re out on Long I’m in a tan/black crestliner with 50h yammy tiller, stop by and say hey.

I assume Redrock / Shartke are talking about the Balsam in Polk county??? Never been there, but If its the one in Barron/washburn co. that’s connected to Red Cedar I can help you out some.

    Well, boys:

I am starting out on Lake Minocqua at midnight as I do not have to worry about a banquet the next night. The next day or on Sunday I am hooking up with my new intern to fish and discuss his work situation with me. Somewhere along the way, I am planning on fishing Fence Lake on the Flambeau Chain as the walleyes will be spawning just after the smelt finish. After the fabulous spring last year, I will working Trout Lake over as well. Too many waters and not enough time!!! Good luck to you all and be safe on the water.

Steve, I will keep an eye (no pun intended) out for you on Menomin. Not gonna hit it real early myself. Got a busy week, and still trying to catch up on a few things from being gone to the RCL jr. I will probably get to Menomin between 8 & 10. Don’t have them all tied up by then, leave me a couple.

Cool! I’ll look around! I’ll be in one of two boats……………a red Lund with a 15hp Evinrude or a white tri-hull with a 20hp Johnson. I’ll most likely be there for the evening so I can get in on that night eye bite.

Good Casts and Catches to ya!
