I’m going to Racine and Kenosha next week. Is there anyplace to fish from shore in these areas? If so, what should I take along?

    Thanks

    Hi Brian,

There’s no snow on the ground and we haven’t had four feet of snow the past two winters combined. There is some great fishing in Racine, along the Root River for steelies, which should be making their early spring push up the river. I was out there last weekend, but the mouth is pretty clogged with ice. If we get the rain and it stays warm this week, the weekend could be the time.
For this I recommend a 7′ rod and 6-8 lb. test, with glo jigs and spawn sacks.

Along the Lake shore down by the marina the brown trout are in the shallows and casting with small bright spoons has been very good for some folks down there, though I haven’t seen it myself.
    Good luck!

    Thanks Bronzback!
I call to the Milwaukee area everyday. I thought you guys may have been dumped on over night!

Is there a Days Inn close to the river? Someone awhile back said that it was withing walking distance of the fishing area. I wish I would have been paying attention!

    Brian,
I’m not certain, I get down there to fish and that’s about it….wish I could help you more. Gimpy, your friends may have been talking about eastern Michigan.
