I was looking for a good bass or northern lake in the Chippewa or Barron County area. Thia would have to be a camping place with stuff to do for kids as well as lake tubing. Fishing is primary though. If yoiu have any thoughs please let me know.
    Thanks

Lake tubing Haywood??? Ummm……..is that done behind a boat with a tow rope? Yah, I know it’s a dumb question……………but some days……………..you know?

Anyway, I know that Long Lake in Chippewa County, along Hwy. 40, has camping and REALLY good bass in it, decent walleyes, plenty of northern to be had, and the occasional muskie! There’s plenty of play room too so it should cover your bases. The one downfall is that the panfishing isn’t as easy as it can be on other waters. BUT, overall lake offerings and water quality, Long Lake is a tough one to beat for that area!

Still2akid – shhh need to keep Long on the down low I guess that doesn’t work very well after its been on Roland Martin’s tv show.

Haywood – what are you looking to fish for? I’m from the area and can probably steer you in the right direction.. Long has campground at the county park, Wissota has a state park, also a state park/campground at cornell on chippewa river these 3 places all have SM, walleye & musky. In barron cty. red cedar lake is a good choice for both SM & LM also pike & walleye and has a campground, also chetek chain in barron cty. for LM, and its popular for panfish also has campgrounds.
if you get more specific about what you’re looking to fish for I can offer other suggestions.

    – by the way is that an ISU cyclones shirt you’re wearing in your pic Haywood?

my vote is for wissota, good all around fishing, also, a lake called marshmiller, may not be the best for tubing, but the bass and pans are good its shallow and stumpy
