Looking to spend some time on Bone or Wapogasett for the first couple weeks of the season to warm up for the Mn bass opener. Just curious which you guys thought was better.

Well, I don’t really know which is better but I’ve had tremendously successful outings on Wapogassett. I know it’s very well known for it’s bass populations and available action so I’m sure you wouldn’t have a dull adventure………….provided the weather cooperates. I don’t really have any info on Bone for you so hopefully someone else will chime in here and give you some personal input for a fair assessment. Good Luck!

I have spent some time on both, but for other species. I spent time on Bone for pans and muskies. Wapogasset for pans early in the season when I was living in Menomonie. Not to steer you in another direction, but I have heard that Balsam is supposed to be the best big bass lake in that area. Yet you may have less competition on the other two. Good luck and hang a hawg!!!

I’ve been to Balsam the last 2 years with some real good success on crankbaits on prespawn bass. Kind of looking to try another body of water. Thanks for the input guys.

If you’re set on those 2 I’d Bone it. If you’re a little more open try Horseshoe just north of Turtle Lake. It’s got everything as far as a variety of different places to fish. Shallow bays, sunken island, deep water (50+ feet), and is decent sized as well(over 400 acres if water levels are up). I’ve had some great openers on this lake esp. if it is a warm one. —————————–Pax
