I just found this site, and would like to know how many great lakers anglers use this site. Let me know if I should post some fishing reports for the up coming season?

Howdi Willie, You bet, we all would like to read some posts and reports. I’m not sure how many great lakers there are here but spread the word and it will grow. Great to have you aboard and glad you found the site. Do you have a camera so you can post some photo’s. Also where about are you fishing. Steve
AnonymousGuestPosts:February 15, 2003 at 4:14 am #261794I was a great lakes person but then I moved to South West Wisconsin. Live 2 blocks away from a boat landing on the big Miss. Anyway, I have spent a little time on the Kewanau bay of Superior. I know I spelled that wrong but you know where I mean. My favorite salmon fishing though was on the tribs of that bay. Spring Steelhead and Fall Salmon. Don’t get up there much any more though. What once was an hour drive is now a 7 hour drive. Sure would be interested in hearing some reports and seeing some pictures though.
WoolybuggerAnonymousGuestPosts:February 15, 2003 at 4:51 am #261798Willie Bee! Welcome to the site! We’d certainly love to hear some reports. Some of us are thinking about trying salmon and have little information to do so. Your help would be GREATLY appreciated! Like Leinieman said, the more that find out about this site, the more discussion and information we’ll have access to! Which, so far in my FTL experience, has equalled better results with my fishing! Looking forward to hearing from you in the future!
February 18, 2003 at 8:31 pm #261845I’ll have to keep trying to upload some pictures, they keep timing out in the system. If you’d like to see a few you can look at my web page at http://www.salmonoid.com/williebee. I have a charter boat in Two Rivers WI. It will be a couple weeks before we can start fishing in the boats, but there is some good brown trout fishing through the ice right now in the Manitowoc and West Twin rivers. The steelhead should be close behind. Spawn on the tip ups just off the bottom has been working. A few northerns on minnows are starting, but its a little early for them.
AnonymousGuestPosts:February 19, 2003 at 4:30 am #261848I live a spits distance from the bender park launch in oak creek (just under mil town).And from the time you can get the boat out of the launch we are knee deep in browns and steelhead.Every time i went out last year we boated over 40 browns and steelhead.On light tackle and forged hooks one split shot and a large shiner.Toss that bad boy in the warm water discharge at the oak creek power plant and wahm zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz easily a good 50-75 yard run and you got a nice 12lb trout after a day out there your wrists hurt but you keep going back for more.All i got to say is thats the best fishing trip all year, roll out of bed at 8am at the launch at 8:05 you just can’t beat it. Mybe you could throw me some info on trolling as i have not tried it out.

let em run zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!AnonymousGuestPosts:February 19, 2003 at 5:42 am #261849Hey gang:
Used to fish the salmon from Port Washington and the south pier at Sheboygan. Spent many a night after bartending driving over and spending all nighters. We would dip net alewifes, then fish them on a Lindy rig consisting of a 1 oz. egg sinker, a three foot snell and then we would use styrofoam as a float to keep the alewives off the bottom. Cast the system into the drink, let it settle to the bottom, reel the slack up and then we would use an empty beer can half full of water to hold the line away from the open bail. When the can goes over, you would have a visual or audio alarm that the bait had been hit. Let ’em run, snap the bail over and then hit them a lick. Best two days was 14 hits and 5 salmon. We used to have the trollers right on top of the breakwalls draggin our lines away. Fish used to average 15 – 20 pounds. My brother and nephew are still working these walls and with the resurgence of the salmon have been doing well again.
As much as I like to muskie fish now, salmon are one of the great battlers that swim. Yes, I still love to catch the greatest of them all, the smallie!!!

AnonymousGuestPosts:February 19, 2003 at 4:24 pm #261854Nice web site. Some day I might call you up. I have always wanted to do a charter like that. What is happening in Door County in the Middle of April. Have to be in Sister Bay for a wedding. Should I bring my Flyrods or is it too early. Any breakwater/shore fishing to be done then?
AnonymousGuestPosts:February 20, 2003 at 3:13 pm #261869Hey Willie Bee, I was just reading your post and your name really caught my attention and i thought i have seen a charter boat with that name and sure enough you are out of Twin Rivers, where i have been goin with my dad and brothers for the last 16 years. We make a couple trips over every year around Labor day. We stay at Seagul Marina. Such a small world out there! We fished Micscot and Shoto a bunch this year but the numbers just werent up there yet!. Hey Benson i know exactly what you are talkin about we fish them all night too. We use the Pop can trick too. I can remember a lot of cold nights sleeping on the pier with a sleepin bag. and the only things u would hear was the propane lantern and the sound of pop cans tippin over! brings back some great memories!

Riverguiding.comFebruary 20, 2003 at 11:25 pm #261881Hi flick, next time your in TR stop down at the boat and say Hi. This Sheboygan pier thing sounds familier. We probably all bumped into each other in the middle of the night running down the rocks hoping the big chinny doesn’t spool us, those were some fun nights. The Bender Park browns are alot like fishing the nuke plant up here, the body does take a pounding when those guys are on the feed. Woolybugger, It can never hurt to be prepared, Sister Bay has some docks you can fish off of, and the brown trout would be cruising the shoreline, but I’ve only fished there 2-3 times in fall. I fish the other side of the Bay in Peshtigo in the spring.
February 24, 2003 at 9:38 pm #261969I wanted to try this picture upload again and let ya know I’ll be in the Packer County Booth at the Milwaukee Journal Sport Show on March 14 and 21. if you make it out there stop by and say hello.

I too thought I remembered the name. My dad is real good friends with Dick Reiter who runs the “Mabe” and used to go out of the Seagul. I remember some pretty good times on the water. I loved doing the Two Rivers and Manitowac fishing derbys. Dick spends a lot of time now at Sheboygan.
