Guided out of northern Door County yesterday and the fishing was fantastic, as my client and I boated almost 40 fish throughout the day. We managed only one five and a few fours as most fish weighted in around the three pound range. Water temps varied greatly from 48 to 57 degrees depending where we were. Most fish were caught in the 25 – 37 ft range with quick access to deep water. The bigger fish were caught 28 ft down, suspended over 100+ ft of water. That is wild and seems so unnatural when you are fishing smallies in water like that. There is much to learn and one can be humbled very easily when it comes to big water smallies, yesterday it worked out.
