Dangerous Ice!!!

In the past week we have lost three vehicles, several ice shacks and sadly, a human fatality.
Even with some reasonable ice thickness, the warmer daytime temps coupled with windy weather fronts going through have caused under ice currents creating thin spots and even open water in NE Wisconsin and the Central U.P. lakes and reserviors.
Do not go near open water….ever!
Test ice thickness regularly, even when its 7-8″ thick or more. I don’t take my vehicle on any area where current may exist no matter if there is a foot ot more of ice. Be safe and enjoy a great season

Thanks for the alert Tom! I see there’s some warmer days coming through Sunday again…………no word on wind…………..but this may be a continuing problem for a while yet. I was on 5″ yesterday but further down the lake there were plenty of warning signs to go with that open water! Tom’s right……………caution should still be exercised.
