    Hey Oak Ridge

Do you cater to snowmobilers or are there any trails to be found in your area? I was just sent on a “search and destroy mission ” by some realitives to find them an alternative to the long drive out to the UP Michigan several times each winter to find some snow to run their machines on. Let me know and if you and the area can accomodate, I’ll send them your direction.

Oak Ridge- are you near Webb Lake? I am not familiar with Phelps, but have stopped many times while snowmobiling at Oak Ridge resort about 3 miles east of Webb Lake. Maybe there is a second Oak Ridge Resort?
Welcome to the best fishing site on the net.

Welcome aboard! I can’t wait to see some more reports coming into the WI forum!! I too have questions, like the previous posts, but my biggest concern is……………where is Phelps (what’s the nearest “BIG” town?) and was the Phelps floater invented there? How big is the lake and what do you have for species info?

Okay………….enough questions! You’re running a resort so I’m quite positive you’re busy enough without another voice buggin’ ya!

Have a great day and again, WELCOME!!!

Welcome to the site Oak Ridge. Lac Vieux Desert WOW you are up there a ways. How has the perch and Walleye fishing been this fall. That lake is on the border with Michigan. I have relatives in Eagle River just south of you. Can you let us know your rates for cabins or do you have a web site? Hey maybe you could do me a favor when you get time please put up a sign that says (check out http://www.fishthelake.com) Please keep us posted on your area as I here it is a great fishing area. I know on my brother-in-laws lake they catch some really dandy perch. Maybe I’ll be up there with my Otter Lodge ice fishing and I’ll stop in and say hi.Those lakes must be starting to freeze on the edges right. Thanks much Steve

The “Desert” as it is known is a fabulous musky fishery. Some of the largest hybrids ever caught have come out of Lac View Desert. Phelps is a tiny town just north and west of Eagle River, WI. A great area for snowmobiling, fishing and general sight seeing. Good luck on your endeavor with the resort.

    Hi Steve
Sorry it took so long to get back to you.The fishing has been kind of slow lately,I beleive it’s because of the cold fronts moving in so fast.I had a group of muskie and walleye fisherman stay here the last part of September. They caught some pretty descent walleye but only a few small muskie.Perch fishing is pretty good all year, you just have to find them. The bait shop just up the road from my resort usually keeps me up on how the perch are bitting. But he has’nt been around the last couple days to ask.As far as my resort you can just go to http://www.oakridgeresort.org And yes I would be more then happy to put up a sign for http://www.fishthelake.com ,and feel free to stop anytime your in the area.
    Thanks alot for the chat

    Hi Visitor
The biggest town next to me is Eagle River,we are just north of there. The fish we have are musky, northern pike, walleye, perch, bass, crappies and bluegills. Lac Vieux Desert Lake is about 4,200 acres,Upper Michigan is on the north side of the lake.As far as the Phelps floater,I don’t know but I will try to find out and get back to you later.
Thanks for taking time to chat

Hi Doug! I am a fellow Bears fan and want to get over your way next spring. Maybe Chris(Mr. Musky) Beeksma and I can get over there and hopefully get some good action photos for a Staff report. I fish the Cisco Chain a bit and am about 85 miles East of you. I live in the U.P.. Welcome to the EFN!

Hi Tom! We sure don’t have much to cheer about this year, maybe next year we’ll get a quarterback. Yes that would be nice to get some good pictures of some fish caught on the lake. Seems like I’m always down here in Prarie du Chien, when the nice ones are caught. Well hope to see you next spring or stop by if your in the area. Go Bears!!! Doug

You’d be the man Steve! I could’nt replace my damaged 18′ boat and rig it with my insurance settlement $$$, so I had to go with a 1750 FishHawk, but it fishes three pretty well as it is a single console. I think Beeksma has a bigger rig. We’ll have to talk him into driving.

Heck maybe we can get a few folks together for an otter outing and a summer one two. All we need now is a lot of members up that way (spread the word) (send up smoke signals)(pass out some pamplets)and we can fish with someone that knows the lake and maybe we won’t have to trailer our rigs up there. Steve
