Wednesday was a great day to be on the water! I had a couple of hours in the morning and thought I would go out and boat a few eyes. Wrong presentation? wrong location? I left the water without a single bite, maybe it was just a little to easy the last time out.
Friday I have the pleasure of fishing with Leinieman,so we will add a report this weekend.

Thanks Don for the chance to get out with you. It was a nice evening to be out on the water. Well I’m not sure of the total number of eye’s that we caught but we did or should I say Don did have several keepers in the 16+” range. We had quite a few short fish and I had a few very short fish but it is nice to see those smaller ones for the future of the lake. Don really gave me some lessons at working over an area while jigging. We didn’t hit the lake untill sometime after 4:30 and left just after dark. I had several bite offs on Nuckle Ball jigs from Fin-Tech Tackle Co. tipped with Livin Eye minnows. I’m not sure what they were but I’m gonna put on a small diameter wire leader and work that area over again. Since we didn’t get an early start we didn’t target the perch in the lake but maybe tomorrow. I think it is my turn to bring the boat and I think we may do some trolling and might even play with the planer boards. All the fish that we caught were released to fight again later. One of us will post how we do Sunday in the next couple of days. Steve
Tight to cover and lock jaw! That is the best way I can sum up the eye fishing right now. After a good bite on the weekend, I have boated a total of 2 eyes the last 4 days. The smallies are saving the day, hitting
cranks and jigs.

Sounds like maybe it’s time for Tainter Lake. Anyone fishing this one lately?
I may have to get out and give it a try. I’m gonna concentrate on some of those big fellows
(sturgeon) and will have some photo’s to post soon I hope . Steve
