I spend more time on FTR but fish the LBDN quite a bit(I live only 55 miles away) and would be willing to pass on reports. I put a story of my last outing but somehow it got zapped.
We had a very late spawn and sporadic walleye bite. Until the torrid weather of the past few days the bite had definitely picked up, especially with crankbaits. The alewives are starting to move up into the bay and will make fishing tough for awhile. I am hoping for cooler weather, as the temps were in the high 90s since Saturday. I am heading for the Peavey reservioir tomorrow to give the Bass and Pike a whirl. I hope things are cooler on your favorite waters.

    Hi Gwamba,
Do you ever get down to Breezy Point, Cedar River, Drisco Can, Corona Shoals, or over to Big Bay? BDN certainly is a gorgeous place to fish and an awesome fishery. I’ll be headed out there mid-August, and in the past have only fished it in June. Looking forward to trying some new things out there and to heading out to Big Bay for a day or so.
Hopefully your trip to the reservoir was a good one!

    Hi Jenn.
You should do well. The Alewives and Mayflies will be done in a 2-3 weeks. It has been a relatively slow year with lots of piggies still swimming free.I have always wanted to explore/fish BBDN. I’ve spent most of my time up on the North end and on the reefs of LBDN. Cedar River is a great spot but scary place to launch out of. I feel a lot more comfortable now that I’m running an 18 footer with some horses for the bigger water. I really want to learn more big water tactics. I’m kind of embarrassed to say that after many years of Trolling, Riggin, Jiggin, and 3 waying walleyes I’ve never run boards for suspended fish. If you ever need an amateur to fish with on BBDN I’d love to go.

    Hi Gwamba…
I may have to take you up on that offer of a fishing partner out there! I’ll be bringing my boat out there and my team partner will be bringing hers… so we’ll be fishing alone out there in our individual boats for several days. She may have her husband come along…not sure. But, I’ll let you know more as we get closer to that time.
    Take care!

Geez, you guys. If I didn’t have to work I would be interested in coming over. Got a bunch of characters that come over from the Minocqua area and fish LBDN during the fall. I am hoping to get over there this fall. gwamba, please keep posting as I have a couple of these guys golfing, dining , etc. out of my place.

I’ll look forward to it. I had to change my user name due to server problems; now it is TommyG. I will be taking out some BB/BS kids fishing on the river at the FTR/FTL get together at Evert’s on July 19. Hope to see you there!
