Did a solo all-dayer today, starting the morning on Delevan, and finishing on the Rock. got 5 pike, 27, 32, 34,34, and 37, all on suckers with circle hooks, slow dragging in 25 to 30 fow. Also, two LM, both 18 inches. Also had three drops before i got to the rod. Planned on moving to the Rock to try to get some eyes for dinner, so pulled off just past noon. (Should have stayed on Delevan, and fished for bluegill dinner)

Did you catch the LM at that depth as well?

Yup. Started my very slow bow-mount troll covering 15 to 22 or so just outside main weed line, and nothing after 45 minutes, in an area that normally produces something. So moved out to cover deeper water, and that’s where all the fish were caught. Also had a few good smacks that dropped the bait, so thinking that those were bass as well, as no teeth marks. Was hoping for some of them lower 20’s bass, but not this time. should mention that much of the time,I was also throwing plastics and cranks towards the weed line, and except for one on and off, on a crank….no hits.

Out on Delevan yesterday, targeting Pike from 7 till noon, and then switched over to try to catch a panfish dinner. My son and buddy joined me on this outing, which started out slow for first 2 hour stretch. slow-trolled a shoreline dragging suckers, varying depth range from 15 to 30, and nada…not even a hit. Moved over to the other side of the lake, and ran into a pocket of fish in 30 fow, that were very aggressive. Boated 7 pike, and missed 3 on hook-set, 24, 27, 28, 32, 33,34, and a dandy 38 incher that my son fought and landed. The 28 came on a tube jig that I let sink and jigged, just to see…others came on suckers. Decided to chase some dinner afterwards, and came home empty handed on that end….a number of small gills and tiny bass is all we could muster…so went home and took out a bag of eyes, as the little guy had his heart set on a fish fry. Here’s the 38 incher…..my son was afraid to hold it. Gotta love it.
