Deer hunting? It least that’s what it was SUPPOSED to be! But once again, when in doubt, get out! As fishing advocates, we like to cash in on any available opportunity for reeling in a few rod benders so knowing the hunt would most likely be a poor one this weekend, I managed to spend some time on Amacoy and Sand Lakes in Rusk county last Saturday. What a GORGEOUS day! I had no luck in Amacoy and was tossing a little everything just to see if I could get lucky. I was without a depth finder or a lake map so it was guesstimated shore vicinities that got my attention. Sand produced a couple of noticeable “swing and a miss” strikes and I saw one musky follow on a Fat Rap………….about a 6-7 pounder. Discovered alot of bass cover though so that’ll help come next season. Anyone else fish the Island Lake/Rusk County area? My parents have a cabin up there and I’m in the area frequently through the spring and falls and could use some “local” advice.
