Anyone fish Buffalo Lake

Just wondering if anyone has fished Buffalo Lake by Montello. We are going to Montello this weekend camping and thought we might give it a try one of the days. Or if anyone has been to Wilderness Campground south of Montello any info on there lakes would be appreciated.

I FISHED IT A COUPLE OF YR’S AGO WHILE CAMPING THERE, CAUGHT A COUPLE OF BASS, THE PLACE IS ONE GIANT WEED BED THE DEEPEST PART OF THE LAKE IS BY THE DAM ON THE EAST END I THINK IT GOT TO 12 FT OTHER THAN THAT THE LAKE IS ABOUT 5 TO 6 FT DEEP.

Buffalo has a good population of walleyes and crappies. If you can get into the crappies they are typicaly good ones. Sugar Lake is not to far from there and that also has a good population of walleyes in it. This lake is a little more difficult to fish. You will have to fish deep, the water it clear, so 30-40 ft of water is where you should be looking if you are fishing during the day. There are some great mid-lake humps that will hold fish. Good luck

3 spots on that lake. the area around the dam, the causeway bridge, and the railroad trestle. throw cranks and tubes and you should have a pretty good time

I live near Buffalo…It is a shallow weed infested lake. BUT, it has some of the areas great bass fishing. Also has good perch and gills. The bass are biting all over the lake. Frogs and topwater are your best bets. Worms or jigs is the holes work good also..You won’t be able to throw cranks…weeds are up already…The causeway is a popular spot and the RR bridge is to. If you launch from town fish along the rocks…you can catch fish all over…Have and head over to Drew’s Lakeside Bar and Grill..tell Kory or Marcie(onwers) to buy you one…or two
