up by Lyndon Station? I’ll be fishing out of River Bay campground early June. Species? techniques? is the water pretty skinny up there?

The water can get a little shallow up there in spots. Castle rock and petenwell flowages are just north of there and they are awesome fisheries. The river has good opportunities in everything you can imagine. don’t forget your texas rigging 4.5 inch green salt tubes.

    Steve-o,

Don’t waste your time with Castle Rock or Petenwell. Stick to the river by River Bay and you will be impressed. Go to http://www.terraserver.com for aerial photos of the river to help with navigation. Hot Spots has an old version of a map as well–not very accurate

SteveO, I have to disagree with ZX202Guy, Sorry, but there are great numbers of QUALITY smallies and Largemouths on Castle Rock. I have gone up ther mid summer a number of times and had my best five go well over 15 pounds. Not going to happen every time, but there are good fish there. And safe water to run as well.

we stayed in the vicinity of River Bay and it was good that we did. several 16″ to 18″ smallies and the walleye were on the chew on Saturday. Sweet Beavers for the smallies and crawlers for the ‘eyes. Great 3 days of fishing
