Any body out there going to be fishing Red Cedar Lake (by Birchwood/Mikana) here for opener? I have fished it for opener for as long as I can remember. Just wonder if anybody else out there fishes this lake.

I don’t fish the opener, my opener is the Tuesday after Labor Day- The true “opener” for fishing season for me, I do fish Red Cedar and have my best luck at night for walleyes. Red Cedar is a fun lake to fish with lots of structure and plenty of water, good luck and watch out for the ya-hoo’s at the landing….

Got out on the lake about 3:45 AM on Saturday morning. The fish were very active right of the bat. We caught 5 walleyes between 17″-23″ and several short ones. We also caught 6-8 nice fat small mouths and a bunch of snaky northern. We caught all the fish before 8:00, and that was it for the rest of the day. We hit the same pattern on Sunday morning and only managed a 20″ and a 16″ walleye for the morning. The pattern for us was casting ring worms to shoreline structure. It was a slower opener than I thought it would be, but we came home with a couple nice meals. I am heading back up there on Thursday to pester them again.
