Anyone on here ever heard or been to Mercer Lake in Wisconsin? I think it is up in the Minocqua area and is 200+ acres. We are coming up this summer for a week, and I was gonna see if there were maps, etc available for it so i can do my homework before we get there. Thanks in advance, JJ

Here’s a link to a DNR lake map. 30 years old, but it’ll give you the general idea:
There is a similar-sized lake of the same name in Oneida County. Here’s that lake’s map:
February 4, 2006 at 8:59 pm #417795Thanks Brook Trout we are going to the oneida county lake in early july. Not sure of forage or anything so im really starting from scratch with a 30 year old dnr map.
I would like to target bass (sm and lm) and musky, wouldnt mind a few eater walleyes. Since i am a muddy water (river or reservoir) fisherman I am soliciting the help of those you are in the know. Looks from the info that it is a 1A musky fishery and has plenty of walleye and sm bass with few np, lm bass and bluegill.
I was looking at the map- if i was to guess i would say summer pattern- for sm would think about the flat with a break in the south east corner, maybe the humps and the islands. Any other places catch anyones eye? How bout for musky? I have caught them before but dont really know what im doing. Any basic tips for summer musky? How bout walleye? Im sure we will use artificial if possible, any tips?
I figure the np and lm bass will probably be in the weeds and am not worried about either of them if i need to.Any guides on this lake? Any other info?

WeFish got you started in the right direction with Kurt’s Bait shop. Are you staying at the Driftwood Resort? I live in Minocqua and while I have never fished the lake, would be happy to help you with some of your questions. I can’t do that right away, but will take time every so often to let you know a little bit more. Also, don’t be afraid consider Kurt as a guide or even Russ Smith or his son. Russ owns Smitty Musky Baits and has lived on Mercer and guided the Minocqua area for 25-30 years. More later!!!

February 15, 2006 at 8:03 pm #420918Mark- I would appreciate it! Im not looking for anyones secrets, just a bass fisherman who wants to know general things like seasonal patterns, color choices, forgage info, etc. I think I might hire a guide for a day, problem is it is kind of a family trip with another family and to committ the money and time for a full day might cause some “friction”. Im trying to do a little homework prior to going so i know what to expect. Ive fished the minocqua chain and have caught muskies but usually while bass or northern fishing, but i want to spend a significant portion chasing muskies. Thanks, ill check with Kurts and Smittys too and check into rates, etc.
February 15, 2006 at 8:07 pm #420920By the way, we are staying at Driftwood Lodge- July 1-8. Thanks for anything you are willing to share.

I saw your post on fishinginfo.com. I haven’t really had time to get after any maps of things that might help. Like I said earlier, I really haven’t fished it ever, but at its size, it shouldn’t take too long to break down. May not be necessary for a guide, especially with the conditions that you explained. I am heading to Florida and my guest was mad that I was going to book a guide. He felt the price was too much. I told him that the price is the same for one or two anglers so he should go and he wouldn’t have to pay anything. He still thinks that he should pay but that is an arguement for another time. If I remember correctly, I have a marked lake map from one of Smitty’s musky books. Send me an address and I will try to photocopy and send.
