The following pictures come from Jeff Patrick. This first fish he says is his biggest to date but not to count him out there is still good fishing to come.

Here is what Jeff has to say:That walleye weigh five pounds I did not measure it but I think it was about 26”. I caught this eye in the mouth of the Rock River by Lake Koshkonong in Wisconsin with my favorite jig a 3/8oz glow green Zone-R jig by Fin-tech tipped with a fathead minnow.

This other picture of the walleye and sauger, they were caught in the Rock River also with the same jig in the month of November.

Now, we can talk about my favorite fish the small mouth. This smallie (FOOTBALL) weighed 5 1/2 pounds and was 21” I caught it on a ”Bass-N” Nuckle Ball jig tipped with a Fin-Craw by Fin-tech on Butternut Lake in Forest county in Wisconsin at the end of June. That was just one of the fish out of about 100 I caught like that in four days.

Thank you for sharing Jeff.If anyone else has a photo or two they’d like to share with us here at FTR, simply send the photo out as a .jpg attachment in an e-mail to [email protected] and we’ll gladly get that posted here just as quickly as we can.

Thanks Stillakid2, watch for some of my up coming posts. I will have a post on one of my great smallie spots and the techniques how I caught them. Tight line (Jeff A.K.A Bola) Best Outfitter Last Angler

I never seem to be able to find smallies in october november, I have never really dedicated a day to it, but you would think i would have to run into at least one.

I’ve read that in some cases smallies migrate to wintering areas, which may be the bigger rivers or back into a lake type environment. However, on the Croix I’ve experienced some good smallie fishing right through late October, water temp down to 47 degrees. I think the bite stays on longer and later than that but I didn’t change up my presentation at all.

Fall fishing can produce trophy smallies. The key for me fishing on lakes was to fish deep water.I can honestly say that I spend most of my time fishing for walleyes and saugers in the fall. When fishing is slow I go after the 30 pointer with my mathews bow. My best advice is to read, read & read, you can never read enough. Bola

On Lake Wisotta I have done good in fall using 4-6″ suckers. Usually just put them on a slip bobber and cast it up next to rocks under and around the bridges. It works very well! You can work the rig down the edge of the rocks adjusting as you go down until bammo…..when I find the smally’s then I work the flats on either side of the bridge dragging the slip about a foot off the bottom and throwing a tube jig or a rubber body/hair combo jig. This works best were the Chippewa River flows in so even though your fishing Wissota your still on the river and you can always hook a bonus muskie or two! P.S. Those are very nice fish! When I lived down there we would make a once year a pilgrimage to the Rock, we never did very good though I did have some of the best ice fishing for walleyes ever on Koshkokong one afternoon many years ago. Very nice fishery!

bigpike, sounds like a great techquine you use on Lake Wisotta. The big Kosh can be a tough ice fishing at times. If you learn the lake and river there’s no reason to fish any where else. BOLA
