Even though the weather has been brutal and many of us here in the Wisconsin/U.P. northwoods have picked up our bows or shotguns, the Fall bite is picking up on Green Bay for Walleye and Pike. I was without a boat for much of the latter season and it wasn’t too hard to convince me to give my new Crestliner 1750 FishHawk a run up to the Little Bay de Noc area.

The air temps. at 29′ this morning, water surface temps. at 42′ and winds blowing briskly from the West. I headed South from the Gladstone Marina and looked for the schools of fish I’d heard reports of this past week . We marked some nice fish near the river mouth and within minutes of putting down a couple of Silver/Black ShadRaps we had a nice 18″ walleye in the net. We made another pass to see if we could put another fish in the net. We worked the area pretty good and tried numbers of different baits. Finally we made a run north and worked the breakline that runs South of the Gladstone Beach House, again marking lot’s of fish.It wasn’t long before we had another walleye in the boat.this time on a YoZuri Purple Prizm crankbait.

We did have a couple other fish on, before my guest Vic Weiland from Minnesota connected with a strong pulling fish. It was quite a battle on the limber St. Croix rod before a nice 42″ Pike succumbed. Two nice walleye and a beauty of a CPR Northern Pike, finished up the day as the cold temps. and increasing wind strength sent us in to warm up. It may be tough fishing conditions right now but from the information I have gathered the big fish Fall bite has yet to peak. Keep your eyes on the weather and take advantage of any late fall day when conditions allow you to get out.

Most of the fish we caught were in the 18′ to 26′ depths but they will move up even shallower as the water temps. continue to cool on the Great Lakes.
