Anyone know anything about Squaw lake near Manotowac. I have reserved a cabin up there next summer and would like some info about fishing this lake or any lakes in the area. I am also interested in getting a guide for a half day any suggestions would be great.
    Thanks

I know of a Squaw Lake by Minocqua but not Manitowac. Are you sure about the location? Probably a pretty popular name for lakes up that way.

Yes you are correct it is off of hwy 70 just west of Minoqua! Anything you can tell me about it? Any Guide suggestions in the area? Any other lakes I might want to try while in the area.
    Thanks for the correction!

I live in Minocqua and was going to make the same comment as the last poster, but did not. Kurt Justice @ Kurt’s Island Bait is a good place to start. I think his number is 715-356-4797. Tell him Mark Benson sent you.

Squaw is a long skinny lake with as far as I know dark water, good populations of small walleye, crappie & muskie. I will look it over and get you some more info. I have never fished it though I know of some that do. I have never really heard anything bad either. Other good lakes in the area west of Minocqua would be along 70, Squirrel, Shishobogema and Buckskin. North is the Flambeau Chain and there is a number of lakes with numbers and trophy potential. West is the Pike Round Lake Chain which has good numbers of panfish, smallies, walleye and muskie. South is the Willow Flowage and east is the Minocqua Chain.
You may hear wolves at night to go along with the normal loon, whippoorwill thing at night.

    More later.
