The title says it all! It was sunday and after trying to get out on the river since friday night i was all hyped up on catching some nice walleyes. It was a cool 30 or so and the sun was covered almost all day.The fish hit right away but all just under 15 and of course the minnows that we caught on minnows BAIT SNACHERS! So after 4 hours and 20 or so walleye we hauled our frozen butts to the truck and headed home.Maybe i need a new spot, any suggestions.

Hey Kevin where were you fishing. It was plenty chilly out. I spent my Sunday out cutting some firewood untill I was wet from the snow. I think it sounds like you did pretty good considering the weather and all. Were you shore fishing?
Hey check out the other photo of the sturgeons. It’s on the Chippewa river giants link that has 30 some views. I got the photos mixed somehow and got two of the same photo’s on the other link.Opps that’s the way it goes sometimes. Steve

i was below the pentenwell dam in a boat.maybe you could send me to a spot to get some better sized fish. i fished out in pool 10 4 weeks ago and landed a 23′ but now most of my fishing partners are scared of the cold, you know fair weather fishermen.I would like to go back out there, ever since i heard the green stuff is disapering.I always have a great time out there.if i had a scanner or dig camera i would love to share some pics with you guys.

Hey Kevin I haven’t fished that area lately. The last time I was down there I was on Castle Rock Lake. I generally fish the Chippewa or one of the local lakes. Sometimes I do make it down to pool four on the Mississippi. Have you check out the photo that Steve Vic posted on the Mississippi Walleye forum. That is a pile of fillets to be . I thnk there are about 30 nice saugers in the pic. As far as a scanner goes I would be happy to help you out. All you would need to do is pick your favorite photo’s out, write up a little something on the backs of each (location, bait, when and whatever else you would like to say) and send them to me with enough postage to send them back to you and I’ll get them posted quick. We can sure use some more photo’s and more info on other spots to fish. It will cost you nothing for me to do this just postage, and I will return your photo’s asap. If this sounds ok let me know and I’ll send you my addrss in a pm and well be on our way. What kind of boat do you fish out of? Have you ever fished the Red Wing area or Mille Lacs? Steve

Hey steve thanks for the ofer, but my collection of photos just began this year and of course i managed to leave the camera at home a couple of times. Not to many big walleyes brought in this year i just started to fish walleyes seriously this year and have not got the hang of it yet.Although the reports have led me to some better fishin but still having alot of trouble finding fish.As for my boat its a 16ft sylvan super snapper with a meriner 30.The boat is a 1985 but she does the trick for me.I fish alot on the wis river out of port andrews for cats and if you know this area it can get shallow in alot of spots you know sand bars.If i had a nice boat and scrached it all up i couldn’t live with myself.I have never fished out of red wing or mille lacs maybe you could tell me about the area and what to expect.I have fished castle rock and only caught small walleye but had some good smallies i think i’m fishing the wrong places and need to know a little more about how weather/time of year and other variables affecting the fish and in what spots to start with.Like i hear about catching walleye in shallows off sand bars and i was always lead to beleive they are deep water fish.I dont know,so much to learn so little fishing time.
look forward to hearing some vet advice about my delema.
    thanks for the feedback

For ino on the Red Wing Area go to the Mississippi River walleye forum you can find it

by clicking on main index (at top of page)For info on Mille LACS check out FTL

or http://www.fishthelake.com get a login the same way you did for this site and you’ll find a forum for Mille Lacs

on that site under message boards. If you have any trouble let me know. Also you don’t have to catch large fish to put their

photos on here and they don’t need to be walleye’s either. Crappies, gills, northerns, bass whatever.

Just a kid with a bluegill makes a dandy photo. Steve
