Well this evening was wet out to say the least. I believe I had a sturgeon on but he pulled free and left me snagged up. Oh well maybe the next time out will be the lucky trip. I need to replace the anchor as I must not of had it tied tight enough to the boat. Yep lost anchor and rope.Oh well a trip to Fleet Farm for rope and anchors and in a couple of days I’ll be on the water and after them again. I did see about 4 or 5 of them surfacing though. Stay tuned for results of day 3. Steve

Was the bite on the cut bait or the crawlers?

Hey Stillakid hows everything going. I actually had the fish bite or suck the cutbait (trout). I don’t think we can say bite as I don’t think they have teeth. LOL It was pretty cool seeing the fish surfacing and next time out if it’s not raining I may try and get a picture of one. I’m fishing very fast water about 14 feet deep and using 4oz bell sinkers. I’m also using my trolling rods (8 foot E glass) with line counter reels spooled with 12 lb test. I hope to hook into one so I can watch and see how much line they can run out and how fast. It’s a whole new way of fishing for me. You ever try casting with a line counter reel and a four or five oz weight? I’ll keep ya posted. Steve

Say Steve ! At least your out fishing. I have had so many
“Honey Doos” I haven’t been out for two weeks. About those line counter reels and rods ! Would you please post the vendor you purchased them from ? Seems I broke one of my long rods setting on a eye on Mille Lacs ! Didn’t know I was that strong . Lets see if we can hook up again on the river! IOU

I’ll have to do some searching. I think the name of the vendor was mkdeals. They may not even be out there anymore. The rods and reels are a marado product. They seem to be pretty good but I don’t use them every day. I bought them because I wanted to do more trolling but couldn’t afford the expensive ones. Both of my trolling rods with 601 marado line counter reels were just a little over a hundred bucks. Yep that was the total for both with reels. I haven’t had any problems with them yet after several years but as I said earlier I don’t use them everyday. The rods are their Reflex series model RED802m. They make a lot of fishing eguipmet for salt water so thought I would try them out. They make a 8 1/2 footer called the Radian that is a little more flexable at the tip and I was looking at those first but I thought these would be better for a rookie trying to pull planer boards for the first time. I think you can get these rods for like 20.00 bucks on ebay. Catch you later I got to get some of those doos done so I can go fishing later today. Steve
