I have heard this is a good lake to take the kids to catch some panfish. Never fished it before but I am going to take the kids out this weekend. Is anything biting or tips on where to fish would be appreciated. Not looking for any honey holes just a place for the kids to catch some fish. Thanks

Well, the lake can be good for panfish. Some days they are a pain to find. There are plenty of weedlines around to target. There is also a deeper channel that goes through the lake which can be good for crappies and perch. I am not the best bluegill or crappie fisherman so you would probably have better luck there than I do There are definitely panfish in the lake and lots of them. usually we have better luck using ice jigs tipped with waxies under a bobber all year. Also leaf or red worms work better than crawlers. Other than that, all I can offer is give it a shot and have fun

Would it be worth trying the lake on Saturday or would the river have it way up and not worth a dang????

The Air Fest is going on this weekend which will put a lot of boats on the lake that want to watch all the aircraft. They also will have part of the lake blocked off, basically in front of the runway. But, the lake is pretty good sized and there should be places to fish. The river doesn’t really affect the lake too much. If anything the lake level will get a little higher which is a good thing. The weedlines and deeper water are clearly defined now. I have not heard any reports from the lake so not sure how the bite is.
