Just wondering if anyone has been up here over the past years? How have you done and what areas are a must? I am looking to catch some Smallies and perhaps Musky.
We are going to be going up there June 9-14th.
    Thanks for any help!

I have fished it for many years. The smallmouth season doesn’t start until 6/25 I believe. It’s catch and release before then. The smallies are absolutely HUGE. 1/8 oz tube jigs and 4 inch tubes in crayfish color are awesome. It’s a class A muskie fishery. I’ve done well on bucktails.

    try this http://www.fishinfo.com

go to WI sectin and check Turtle Flambeau Flowage.

I can hook you up with a super guide up there also.

    Thanks SteveO,
    I will check this out.
Question, if the season is not open for smallies can I still target fish for them? I know catch and release only but is it ok to target them.
    Thanks

it is o.k. to target. who would want to keep a 5 lb’er anyway? takes about 8 years for them to get that big.

June 18th is the bass opener. The spots would be sort of hard to explain. I would buy a HotSpots map. It was penned by Don Pemble who is the best (imho) on the Flowage,
The water is about a ft below normal. Go slow. There are lots of boulders and stumps out there. If you find boulders with access to deep water you are in business.

My buddy has the hot spot map.
A foot low eh? I did hear you need to be careful she tends to jump from 15′ to 1 foot in a hurry.
Any idea on the water temp? Has spawning started or is it over?

TFL is an awesome fishery! Walleyes are super abundant, as are smallies and jumbo perch. Cranks in hot colors are always good. Fish rock bars and wood…it is every were, I can recomend a good guide if you want. I have doen VERY well on a 1/4 oz jig and beetle spin with chartuce or orange power grubs. Also, rocket shads have produced good numbers. DO not over look leeches and crawlers on 1/16th or 1/8th oz jigs and drift gravel bars. Smallies are huge with incredible shoulders! have a great time. I am going June 12 to 17 this year.

I heard they are up on the beds right now. They will be finished by the time you are up there. That’s why the season starts so late. I second the motion of beetle spins. They are alot cheaper than cranks. I heard the temp is around 58 to 63 degrees.
