Looking for a few tips from any of you who have fished moose lake. I am heading up there june 11-18 with a buddy and his parents. We are taking his boat up and will have all week to fish. We will pretty much be targeting anything that swims. I was just wondering if any of you who have fished this lake before could give me some ideas on certain areas to concentrate on i.e. sunken islands, reefs, weed beds, etc. and certain techniques. Any help at all would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello! Do you mean Moose Lake near Hayward, WI.? I only ask because there’s probably more than one lake with that name, I would think. I’ve fished Moose Lake by Hayward a few times though. Wouldn’t call myself an expert though. Decent lake for muskies, smallmouth, and walleye.

Moose lake is all about Musky
Where the river feeds the lake and the north east islands are good spots. There are a few sunken rock piles marked also that hold Musky. Top water is a blast. Keep in mind this is a class A lake and trolling is not allowed.
    Good luck fishing

I agree with you, Bret, but I’ve seen some beautiful small-mouth caught on this lake by people throwing musky-sized topwaters. Never really killed the walleye there but spent way more time chasing muskies than anything else.

Thanks for the info so far guys. Yes it is the moose lake near hayward,I should have stated that from the beginning .Is there any good maps of the lake that we could get that would show some specific structure of the lake such as rock piles or sunken islands and possibly which type of fish key on these areas at certain times of the year? Thanks again.

I would just go with the normal “fishing hot spots” map. I usually get one for every lake I fish.
