Crappie Bite

    Where is a good lake to try this time a year in west central wisconsin? I’m looking for a new place to try. Any info. would be appreciated…

    Was up on Deer Lake in Polk County this afternoon. Lots of boats out there fishing crappies, didn’t look like anyone was doing that well. Managed a few crappies. Best presentation seemed to be just the plain hook and a minnow in 8-15 feet of water. The fish were really lethargic and appeared to be stuck in their winter mode still.

    Water temp: 45-50 degrees

    Thanks for the update. Heading up to the cabin this weekend (Hayward Area) and am planning on chasing those specks for a couple of afternoons. I’ll drop a note back here with my results.
