We launched on the river early this morning under overcast skies. The heat finally came down to the lower 80s for our daytime temperatures. It wasn’t long before the sun came out again bringing on the hot stuff! Surface temps. cooled several degrees last night to between 75′ and 80′ with some good prevailing southerly winds .
We fished numerous spots up and down the river using 3 ways and spinners tipped with leeches and crawlers this morning with some better results than the last several days.We caught smaller size fish including walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass.Several other anglers on the water also complained about the high temps. and the slow bite. Hopefully the action will pick up next week with cooling conditions. North winds are to enter the area over night and up too 15 mph. tomorrow.
One group staying here at the Northwoods Wilderness Cabins fished an area north of here this morning getting some real nice northern pike action. Come on cool weather!!
