I’ve managed to make it out a few days this past week. The ishing on the local lakes/backwaters of the Chippewa and Mississippi River around Durand has been pretty good. The panfish are biting up a storm on Dead Lake and Silver Birch. There are a lot of small ones to weed though but the big ones are there. On Dead Lake, I’ve been fishing in about 8-10′ of water. Mostly bluegills with the occasional pearch and crappie. If you get a crappie they are usually 10+”. I caught several yesterday that made for a good meal. I haven’t done much tip up fishing. It doesn’t appear anyone is having any luck with that there same goes with Silver Birch.
I’ve heard of lots of reports of small fish on Lake Eau Galle as usual. Some friends caught several nice bass though.
I haven’t made it down to the Dike Road off the Mississippi yet. Some friends came home with a bucket of small pike and some nice gills. They said they really had to work for the gills, moving around a lot.
How’s everyone else doing down there?
