I would say most if not all inland lakes in the Iron River area are ice covered and safe to fish. Past few days of below zero will add some inches. I have heard of walleyes being caught on the Pike chain and bluegill fishing has been ok on some of the smaller lakes. Just watch for current areas as they froze up just in the last few days.

6 to 8 inches on Roberts lake as of last weekend (12/19/04)
My guess is— it is thicker by now, with all the cold weather.

    Good luck

Well this past weekend, we caught 7 Pike outta Fireside Lake, which is just barely into Rusk County.
Take Hwy. 40 outta Bloomer to County ‘D’ , and then on to Cut Across Road and you will have a public boat landing. Good Crappie too.
