Well the Chippewa has been high all spring and was starting to go down but as I drove in to work today I see it is back into the trees. She’s high and I’m afraid it’s only gonna get higher. I haven’t been out in a while but will post when I do. Steve

May 12, 2002 at 4:06 am #242825Fished below Dam by burger king casting jigs to the area I was standing two days earlier nothing doing. Moved down to the boat ramp by the main st bridge casting to the ramp and gravel turn around had twenty fish in two hours all 20 to 28inches what a blast. Dam has three gates wide open water is up to the old walkway on power plant.
Oh by the way all the fish were buffalo.Chippman
May 12, 2002 at 12:42 pm #242827Hey if your out and the rod is bending and your drag is singing what could be better than that. Buffalos are fun to catch. It looks like I’ll have to hit the lake next weekend at least one day. Steve
May 12, 2002 at 1:42 pm #242828Hey Blitz how ya been. Are they still messing with the dam on Tainter? Have you been out on the lake yet and did you do any good? I was down by the boat landing in Downsville yesterday and the water was up into the parking lot. Is blacktop good structure? LOL Actually at the end of ramp is a nice concrete dock which is probably under at least 3 or 4 feet of water. It probably has some nice walleye’s sitting on it now. Steve
BlitzPosts: 8May 19, 2002 at 5:33 am #243183ya, they are still messing with the dam, especially with that guy drowning, trying to find the body, and ya, the landing by downsville is finally about an inch from the top of it. I only live about 2 minutes from there, i check it almost daily. I went down the the bottoms off of Y, and the weeds down there, near the end of the dirt road before the brigde, were over six feet high in the trees, i couldnt believe it, it is still probably the same now, was only about 2 days ago when i was there, and im sure it all hasnt fallen down yet, you should go check that out…its quite a site
May 20, 2002 at 12:55 am #243194I saw the river was heading back to normal flow when I went through Chippewa today. We had grduation party to attend so no fishing today but with the alumacraft in the shop (motor being rebuilt) I’ll be hitting the river and some smaller waters for a few weeks. I hope it stays cool so those pesky mosquitoes don’t hatch for a while. Smallies and Walleyes should be hitting good now that the flow is going back to something resembling normal. I shold be out checking out som shore fishing this week and will let you know whats up. Hey Blitz two minutes isn’t far from the bridge I thought you were living in Minnesota somewhere???? Do you know where the Bullfrog fish farm is I hear you can catch eight pound trout there if your lucky. Steve
BlitzPosts: 8May 21, 2002 at 3:39 am #243312no, i live in downsville, bought a house here, lived in menomonie before, anyways, ya, the bullfrog has some big ones, my wif and son went there on a field trip last friday, she said it would be hard to catch one that big though, because as soon as your bait hits the water, they are on right away. There is a trout farm in star prarie (north of new richmond) that has some huge trout in it, ive been there, its very nice, she said it was nicer there too, and that place has some huge trout, with about 12 different ponds, with the fish kind of assorted by size in each pond, and you can see all of the fish in the water, its very clear. At bullfrog she said it was very hard to see in the water, and its just one big pond.
Anyways, havent even had a chance to get out to go fishing yet. I have the itch real bad, just no time….soon though.
good luck fishing
May 24, 2002 at 5:52 pm #243590The river is at a decent level now. Got whooped by my girlfriend the other day on the River. She got 2 crappies, an ‘eye, and a snake. Me? Nothin’. I don’t understand. LOL.
