    Hey guys,

Just a quick note to remind you that when the days get too full of “busy things”, we have a lot of hours in the dark now and the fishing is there for the taking!

I’ve found that Long Lake in Chippewa County is willing to cough up some walleyes fishing a lighted bobber over a rock pile break (17′) on a “rainbow” minnow. Are they called that? I’ve heard some say “dace” minnows too. Anyway, it’s the ones with the long red stripe down the lateral.

Crankin’ after dark on Fireside gave up a 10lb. 15oz. walleye and a 44″ muskie to a close friend of mine.

Hunt all day, fish all night…… it’s that time of year to just be outside doing one of the above!

I’ll be up in that Island Lake area for the next week and offline but if any of you guys can make it up that way, I’ve got the name right on the side of the boat! I’m sure to see you on one of these 2 lakes! Just check for the green Blazer in the lot.

Well, here we are 159 views later and I’ve got good news to report! FULL MOON ISN’T JUST FOR MILLE LACS!!! I went out on Fireside Lake last Monday night and enjoyed the entire lake…….. byyy myyyy self! Water like a mirror but light variable breezes on the face, temps right around 32 degrees (I had frost on my front seat but little else). I marked fish all over the place but the active fish were holding in 6-10′ areas and really holding to the weedlines. I haven’t figured out how to work my digital self-timer very well but I tried for a couple snapshots. Big fish of the night was a 24″ walleye that bit on a Smithwick SSR in clown. Another good producer for me was a white/prism brushed Matzuo suspender, about the same size as a #9 Rapala.

I use a 50lb. thrust transom troller and forward trolling at speed 2 was the ticket. I’ll be up that way again soon so hopefully the weather cooperates a bit.

All the lakes have been empty after dark…….. and it’s some of the best fishing there is! Dare to try guys….. there’s THOUSANDS of acres of waters going unused right now. And in case you’re using hunting as an excuse, I’m still hunting during the day. It can be done and I think a lot of guys are really missing some great fishing!

    Remember to practice CPR!

Kid, sounds like your putting together a good program that will work on a variety of lakes. A real good way to put that fish of a lifetime into the boat. I like using a electric motor also for fall trolling, I feel it gives me more variation in speed.
I will be looking for the picture of the hog you pop on one of your forays.
