We took our annual summer vacation up on Lake Arbutus last week. This is more a vacation for the wife and kids more than me. We always take our boat though! And I manage to get a few hours of fishing in each morning.Well the walleye bite is different from year to year. This year I found a pattern that worked quite well.We found the fish in 4 to 8 ft. of water and had to pull boards to get them.I used baby thundersticks and shallow running reef runners.Pink was diffinetly the color of choice. This lake usally gives up her share of crappies and they are usally slabs! This year I couldnt get a crappie bite going. With Plenty to do during the day,4 wheeling,Sking, and swimming I just didnt get out during the day.I did manage to catch 10 to 15 walleyes each morning and sort through for the good eaters.Biggest for the week was 23 inches and the average was 17 inches.Well its back to reality and remember to keep your tip up.
