Enjoying a light rain and coffee. Just came in off Lake Nokomis and the shallow water big gil and walleye bite is on! Looks like a line of storms coming through then back at it! Life is good

Sure wish I was up there now….8 more days I assume the water level is up near full capacity? Most of the lakes I was on a couple weeks ago near Boulder Junction was gatting back up to near normal. A few could use a foot or more of water yet, but still nice to be able to motor through some of the channels again.

Comparing to past recent years the fish are behind, the may fly hatch just begun the walleye and gils are feeding in reeds and cabbage combo, 2-4′ with a light jig and chunk of crawler. the lake is full and that is awesome, better enjoy that before someone decides to pull the plug, first time this flowage has been full at this time of year in a long time….

A number of years ago, i found some really nice gills hanging on a pocket along an island shorline. Took my mom & dad up there for a weekend, and my jaw about hit the parking lot. It wasn’t like it dropped a little or even two feet. Shorelines that I had fished earlier was above my line of sight – HIGH & dry. Makes the fluctuating rivers levels look like child’s play.

Went back after the rain and now its crappie in the shallows! Same basic location different species, along with a few eyes and one big one that snapped us off – northern or ski

A couple pictures from the weekend, fishing was as good as I ever had it on Nokomis. That’s not saying much but it was fun!
