Hey guys, looks like I’ll be staying on the Holcolube flowage this memorial weeknd, And I’m wondering if anyone can give me any hints on fishing this flowage, I’m not asking for your seceret fishing spot (although I’m open to listening to specific spot siggestions, pm wise a if you’d like ) More so in suggestions of what to fish with, and how for crappies, sunnies, and walleye’s, and or any particular depths or ANY info I guess the park I’m staying at is I believe on the Flowage and jump river?

Any help would be apperciated, and can be paid for in beer out on the river , if you feel better giving a guy a hand and not posting it up to the world, feel free to pm me.

    Thanks guys

I’d love to help – but I cannot. I’ve been trying Holcombe for a year now and have yet to put anything together. Last weekend there were a number of boats under, by, and around the silver bridge by Big Swede’s. Sorry, but that’s the best I can do for you. —-Pax

Thanks I appreciate atleast a response , I’ll post up if I can figure anything out, I did find a fishing report when I searched “holcombe flowage report” on google so hopefully that helps. As long as I can avoid the “skunk” I’m happy.

Fished L. Holcombe quite a bit in High Schoold and College….good fishery. The rock bar in Pine should be marked with jugs and is good for eyes until late June. Also the channel in front of the bridge going into Pine can be slip bobbered and have caught just about everything including cats and muskies. For crappies I would try cranberry or the back bays by the Hwy. 27 Silver Bridge. If you like bass fishing the shallows up by the jump and up the chipp. is quite good. A lot of people troll for eyes and would be a good option. I’ve heard of some big bluegills caught up by the dam, but have never tried it. My cousin has a cabin across from Paradise Shores and we fished it quite abit as a youngster. Good Luck

Ack! friday beautiful, didn’t get a chance to fish, sat, rainy, water temp dropped 6 degrees wind out of the east, Marked multiple fish, caught 3 small panfish, we were out for around 4 hours, probably should’ve tried deeper, but it being the first time on the water up there, I didn’t know the area well enough to search really hard, pretty much we tried to fish the wind blown side, and stay out of the wind, alas it didn’t work. Only had a chance to fish sat. , and 4 hours was more than enough.

Yeah, I’m sure I’ll fish it again sometime, but I’ll probably be looking more for panfish, then walleye, The walleye regulations are just plain stupid, 3 fish limit, 14-18 inch need to be released imediately, one 18+ fish can be kept, and anything under 14 can be kept, ridiculous… From what I’ve heard this is a great, great walleye area, maybe the Wi DNR is just trying to “milacs” this flowage too….

Welcome to Wisconsin where walleye and trout regs change as often as the wind…..WI DNR could take a few notes on how to manage the fishery from the MN boys…..the fishing in MN is heads and tails above WI and alot has to do with fisheries management and also with the ecosystems in the lakes.
