16 inch black caught on red during the crappie boom. She weighed in around 2.7…The real impressive part was we caught 70 close to that size both years we made it up. I dont think ill ever seee anything like that in my lifetime again

17″ Black, tip-up fishing during the last ice period on Lake Koshkonong in the ’80’s sometime… Wished I would have realized the significance of that catch back then… One in our party fell through the ice on the walk off that day fishing the springs.

I had a black crappie out of a lake near the Minoqua area that would have blown the state record away – Caught it at night while out by myself. Docked the boat at about 3 in the morning with it in the live well. Didn’t think about the state record, just getting to Neil Long to be mounted. Woke up the few hours later to ask my Dad if i could get it mounted and received a kick in the ^$%#@. My dad had cleaned the crappie and couple walleyes. No pictures, just a hell of a memory and something to hold over my dad for the rest of his life. The echoing words he said that morning “Dam nice crappie, never saw one that big”
