Going up to Lake Namakagon this weekend and hoping somebody can give me an idea of how fishing has been. I haven’t been up there for quite a few years, and didn’t know how to fish very well at the time.
All I remember was that it was basically musky and walleye. How is the walleye population? And is there much for bass?

    Thanks for any info.

I fish it every couple of years for smallie’s. Just fished marked rock areas and some cribs etc. Never bothered with walleyes.

Fished this last year open water and through the ice – caught more pike than anything else. Picked up a few bass both largemouth and smallmouth but those numbers seemed low while fishing the reeds and pads with topwater frogs and jerk worms. Caught a few walleye but did not find much for size – leeches and crawlers fishing inside turns and outside weed lines.

I’ll be up that way this coming weekend for a few days.

    Good luck,

I fished it this Year and did well for bass in the shallows by stumps and blowdowns with powerbait and topwater buzzbaits. Caught several Pike 3-4 lbs range on topwater buzzbaits over weedbed edges. Weirdly enough I caught walleyes on sucker minnows and worms in 15 ft. of water on the dropoffs.

Well we did ok on largemouths the first morning after the rain. Biggest one was just a little over 18″. I probably should of spent some time musky fishing, but I’ve been so into bass fishing lately its hard to resist. Caught them on frogs and jigs, fished by pads. Got into a couple small areas where we got quite a few bites, but didn’t really catch a lot. Saturday night and sunday morning were a lot slower. Had one musky on on a bass jig actually that I lost, and we got two dink wallye. Still got a few bass in the pads, but not a lot.

I guess it wasn’t too bad, since I didn’t know if there were even any largemouth in the lake. I will say the ones we did catch were really chunky and healthy looking.
