I have only ice fished it once. From my memory it is fairly shallow and a lot of stumps. There is a mini mart on highway H and 165th. They were helpful in pointing us out some place to start.
Depth varies widely. Lots & lots of old emergent trees. I haven’t fished it for a few years now, but we used to catch some decent walleyes, crappies and gills. Lots of bullheads at times also. We usually worked the shoreline lily pads and brush with weedless jigs and bait or bait under a bobber.
If you like gils, the big ones should be moving in shallow. Had limited luck off the campground yesterday but constant wind did not help things, depending on the day in the last week a friend of mine did very well on the pre spawn shallow gils. My wife caught about 8 LM yesterday so they certainly will be active also.
