I am heading to the land of cheese and beer this weekend for a wedding and need some reccomendations on which lake or lakes to hit for a morning of fishing.

I’ll be staying at Hointville lake about 10 miles southwest of Minong. Any recommendations on a good lake to fish would be appreciated. I’d like to target Muskies if I can but will settle for bass or walleyes if there are any good lakes within about 30 miles or so.

I’ll only be able to fish saturday morning until about 1 pm if I can get away from the fun and excitement of the wedding activities.

I’m bringing the boat of coarse…

big mckenzie lake is just south of there. that would be a good destination for Muskies in that area.

Don’t overlook the Namekogan river that runs right past the resort. They might even rent you a canoe if your staying at Heartwood. I have seen many nice muskies and smallies while floating that stretch of river.

    Have fun!

With such a small window you would probably be best to fish the lake you are staying on to get the most time on water. My cabin is not far from there but I have no fresh intel on the nearby lakes. I wouldnt send you to my lake. Fishing has been “challenging”.

My parents lived in Minong for 10+ years so I got to know a few of the lakes around there. Nancy lake was good for muskies but I haven’t fished it for a long time…
Pokegama(our home lake) is very good for LM bass. Its a weedy lake with lots of panfish. Hope this helps, share a pic if you get into anything good.
