    Corps’ Blackhawk Park to host kids fishing derby Aug. 6

    SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is hosting a free fishing derby for children 12-years-old and younger at Blackhawk Park, near De Soto, Wis., Aug. 6.

    Registration for the 13th annual Blackhawk Park Youth Fishing Derby begins at 8 a.m. and all children need to be registered by 8:50 a.m. Educational programs will be held from 9 to 10:20 a.m. The derby begins at 10:30 a.m. Participants will be registered under one of three age groups: 5-years-old and younger; 6 to 9-years-old; and 10 to 12-years-old.

    All fishing will be done from the shore and within park boundaries so participants only need to bring their own sunscreen and a fishing pole. Local merchants will provide bait, a light lunch and prizes.

    Any license issues with the kids? MN or WI? I don’t think so but thought I’d ask, my boys might like to so this.

    I’m pretty sure that is Wisconsin-Iowa waters.
