Started fishing crappies early, early am around wood and 12fow. Marked a ton of fish but only had two takers hitting the 11inch mark with a pinched tail. Lightning starting flashing and the thunder rolled….time to head in. It must have been a good day to practice my loading and unloading technique because I sat at the landing and waited the storm out. My timing was impeccable for getting off the water and loaded.
Want to talk about having fun at a landing…even the best screw up when you get in 5-10 minutes late and the wind starts kicken and there is vertical rain
After kicking back, drinking coffee and staying dry a half hour later the wind subsided and the clouds broke, after hitting the defroster my eyes couldn’t believe there was no one else that waited it out
I backed down the ramp and got the boat at good angle so the water could run out. Loaded up and was fishing again within another half hour.
Not really finding a bite sought out for the plans changed. Maybe some gills in the shallows. This is when my bumbling butt fell into a barrel of good time! Gills hitting the 10inch mark (without a pinched tail), some short eyes along with one at 17inches and of course, a few green fish were found on mud in 3-4fow.
No idea what the hatch is in the mud right now but there are fish there with the feed bag on
Everything was caught while using 2lb Trilene spooled onto a UL President Pflueger spinning reel seat onto my wimp stick. Man did that make for fun!! The offering tied to the end was a 1/64oz green jig head flashing a chunk of crawler 3 foot under a slip bobber.
It was a must to keep on the move. If you left the bait sit it was ignored.
Felt good to get out on the water again. Good Luck fishing People
