Headed out this weekend, staying on Nokomis (not one of my favorites) I do like Mohwaskin and would be willing to go up to the Willow. Has anyone heard of any action in this area? Thanks for any replys.

I live in this area, but can’t help you…too new to it myself and most of the water here remains unexplored by me. I tried to get a Tomahawk/Rhinelander/St. Germain/”this part of northern WI” area it’s own forum in WI section but no luck.
Shoot Tom Gursky a pm, he should know something or be able to point you in the right direction.
Sorry I wasn’t more help…be sure to let us know how you do!

Glad to see you back in the Northwoods… Nokomis may be a place to explore this year and finally in the last two years there has actually been some water in it… As for Mohawkskin, been hearing good things from panfish all the way to muskies. And the Willow has been good but tougher this year as it is at full pool as well and that has had the fish spread out a lot more. That is all I can spill right now, but you might want to check out fishinfo.com and the Tomahawk thread to see what Aquatic Arts is posting, they are the most up to date on Mohawkskin and surrounding reservoirs.

Here is Dave’s report from Aquatics Arts in Tomahawk:

Another good week of fishing in the Tomahawk area.

Perch was the hot bite with fish over 12 inches registered.
The flats on Lake Mohawksin gace up some very nice catches. Beaver tails on a brown and orange jig was the favorite treat for the Perch. Look for the Perch in 4 feet of water. Another trick is to use a saftey pin spinner with a small imitation crawfish retrieved just along the bottom.

This weekend should be a hot time for Bluegills, be sure to fish the shallows, use trout worms or waxies. Don’t forget to give some poppers a try!

Crappie, we found them suspended over deep water structure, Tinsel tails tipped with a small minnow and a slip bobber. Use your locator to find wood or brush in deepwater and setup about 2 feet over the structure or where your electronics show where the fish are. You want your bait just above the fish, Remember Crappies like to come up to the bait.

Walleye action was decent on the flowages, they are on a leech and crawler bite now. Roadrunner jigs tipped with a leech is the ticket for good action. Work your bait just outside the weeds. Good reports below the Dams.

Finely some bigger Muskies this week, 2 nice fish this week a 47 inch and a 47.5. Both of these fish were caught below Kings Dam. Kings Dam must of been the spot for Muskies this week there were several reports of mid 30 inch to 40 inch fish caught. Reports on the lakes are Bucktails are hot.

Action by Bradley Dam seen some good catches of Pike, and some big ones again. Several over 35 inch and one that was over 40 inches. Use Mepps Bucktails.

Bass action remains strong, Spinners or Rapala’s for Largemouths and Tubes for the smallies. Fish the weeds for the Largemouth and fish the stumpy or rocky points for the Smallies.

    Good Luck
    Dave

On Lake Alice east of Tomahawk from LL:

Great day for the gills again. Good to be back and be on some great fishing. Three of us caught over 95 fish. Kept enough between the three of us, the rest are still swimming. A handful of small fish early, then we found 5 spots that produced 8″ – 10-1/4″ gills. Going back on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the lions share. Some for the freezer and some to release. It is prime now, so don’t wait. Used leeches and small floats in 6″ – 2′ of water. Good luck & have fun!

Another stellar day on the water. Wildlife all over in the early morning, a doe and her three fawns back by the foot bridge, pretty cool. A fox and her pups on the island also. Now the gills, they just keep coming. Only fished three hours today and had a four man limit with two guys. Kept 15 fish out of the hundred or so we caught. Size was large fish, had the spots for the big ones picked out from the day before. Have pics, no cable up north to put them on the lap top though, sorry. They taste good though. Mildred tomorrow for some bass and maybe some more gills on Alice. Life is good! Good luck & have fun!

Thanks Mark for the great report / info. I will call you and let you know how me and my daughter do, if we need a spot for Sunday with my brother and nephew I’ll hit you up for some info. Thanks again. Sounds like the gils are producing so we should have fun because that is what I am targeting along with any other pannies…You are the best

Mohawskin walleye fishing has really been good, every time I went out we did well for multiple species but walleye is king right now. I am using micro jigs with a half of crawler, I have found walleye in 3-6 fow next to weeds and wood, also around the numerous tressels on this body of water. There is a pretty good mayfly hatch going on also. Its realy been a wonderfull weekend and with limited fishing time I made the best of it. Thanks! Anyone wanting more details drop me a PM
