I got plenty of good info on the lake,,, I gust could not put together much of a pattern on eyes or crappies..

I was dragon jigs in 10-15 feet of water tipped with fat heads and I wprked the deeper water looking for suspended crappies…

we caught one Northern Pike and one short walleye…

Oh well… theres always next time…if there is one

Did you try up in the river mouth? We usually do pretty good in that area.

We worked just above the camp ground, all the way down to the dam…. We spent a little time up in the river mouth just before we called it a day…

From my first observation… this would be a good lake to fish…first light, at dusk…and maybe during ice over…

Lots of pleasure craft.. Looks like a great pond to do the tubing and skiing on !!!

You forgot to add raining as a good time to fish it! I agree though, lots of pleasure activities going on out there.

Not sure what happened to all the crappies this year. I have only put one good day together so far. As for walleyes, it’s been consistently slow. I’ve able to catch 1 or 2 legal fish most outings. Usually by now, the trolling bite is in full swing but it only seems to be good at high noon on the hot sunny days as of late. Dragging crawler harnesses or jigs has been the most productive. Blue and light purple are the go-to colors. Next time you’re over that way, give a shout on channel 19 on the marine radio. If I’m on the lake, I give you a heads up.

You might want to think the lake is lousy fishing and I’m sure most of the locals are glad you do think that way. But (and I’m sure mrjigger can contest to this) when the trolling bite for crappies is on, there are wall hangers to be caught

If you do get back that way ecnook, make sure to give mrjigger a shout. I’m sure he will steer you in the right direction

Any musky’s yet this year JD?

Oh yea… Kudos goes out to the bait shop guy.. I cant remember the name of the place…it was right next to a restaurant(side by side)..

This guy went out of his way to make sure I understood the lake by pointing out locations on the map.. Told me techniques for the locations, speeds to be trolling.. you name it… Now it isn’t his fault i fell short of his expectations… but I know one thing… I will be back there to buy the necessity’s for my day !!!!

I hope they knock themselves out. Not a destination spot for folks that have to drive over a hundred miles IMHO

I think Dave is just unlucky. I fished with him twice this year and his being there ruined good bites on both Petenwell and Lake Monona. Don’t let him come to a lake near you if you want to catch anything. I took him catfishing once on the Mississippi and he ruined that one too. Maybe we should get him a horse shoe or something.
